Members Give to Our Community

We are proud of the actions of our club members to give in her own way to the community. We knew we were all pretty busy, but when we took stock of what we all did, it was almost overwhelming. Please take time to appreciate all that our members do outside of our club.


Mari Avedano

Schurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery

Mari is an Auxiliary Board Member and volunteer for the Schurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery.  Additionally, she is a Board Member and volunteer for NovatoSpirit. She is the volunteer FaceBook Assistant for Novato History Museum, Novato Museums Association, and the Novato Senior Citizens Club.


Sylvia Barry

Rotary Club

Sylvia is very active with the Novato Sunrise Rotary and is also on the Advisory Board for Novato School Fuel.


Carole Bennett

North Bay Science Discovery Day

Carole is the Chair of the North Bay Science Discovery Day, an annual event at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds that draws 16,000 people. Consider volunteering for a four-hour shift at this exciting FREE day that promotes STEM to kids. Contact Carole or check the website.


Vicki Campbell

Marin County Multiple Sclerosis Society Support Group 

Vicki is the Co-Facilitator of the Marin County Multiple Sclerosis Society support group which meets on the second Saturday of every month from 12 to 1:30 pm. Contact Vicki for more information. She received an award for the best MS Support Group Leader for 2019 (out of 41 other groups).


Robin Diederich

League of Women Voters of Marin County

Robin currently serves on the Board of the League of Women Voters of Marin County. Her interests include community and government issues, voter education, and fair elections in particular. Robin will be glad to discuss more about the League.


Rachel Farac

Marin County Mental Health Board

Rachel is on the Marin County's Mental Health Board and loves mentoring the youth of Marin County. She is a member of Citizens Climate Lobby and attends a yearly conference in DC to educate congress members about Climate Change. Contact Rachel with any questions.

Novato Historical Guild

Kate coordinates the Novato Historical Guild Speaker Series on the second Wednesday of each month. These FREE events are held at Novato City Hall, 901 Sherman Avenue, at 7 pm. Add these dates to your calendar to hear these wonderful local folks talk about local history!

Gilead House

Pam has been very active with the Gilead House for years and brings a lot of knowledge and enthusiasm for this transition home for moms and their kids.


Susan Magnone

Novato History Museum

Susan is currently the Manager of the Novato History Museum and active in the Novato History Guild. She coordinates all activities and tours at the museum.


Rosemary Shea

Novato Music Association Chorus

Rosemary sings in the local Novato Music Association Chorus which brings a special celebration to the winter holidays.


Patty Smith

Sparkle Foundation

Patty is an enthusiastic volunteer with the Sparkle Foundation which is designed for women helping women. Each summer is the Sparkle Backpack Drive, and it was on August 7, 2019.  Volunteers from all over town gathered to assemble 700 backpacks for needy kids in the community. Master Gardeners of Marin County

Charlotte can often be found sitting at a booth for the Master Gardeners offering free gardening tips to the public.


Sharlene Van Boer

Mudshark Swim Team

For over 20 years Sharlene has dedicated her life to being the Head Coach of an award-winning swim team called the "Mud Sharks" based right out of our own local Rolling Hills Club in Novato.

Nancy is involved in several organizations and gives herself endlessly to them all. The one that we see her the most involved outside of Soroptimist is the Novato Chamber of Commerce.
